These are the decisions made once at the start and changed reluctantly after: the shop's identity, the order number series, the tax regime, and what the checkout lets a customer do.

Ecommerce settings with the storefront API, transactional emails and the order number format
Fig. 1 Ecommerce settings. The first two switches decide whether the shop talks to the outside world at all.

Controls on this screen

  1. Storefront APIThe public interface for an external front end. It comes with the package — it is not switched on here.
  2. Transactional emailsThe master switch for order confirmations, status changes and payment confirmations. Off means silence towards the customer.
  3. Order number formatHow orders are numbered. Worth changing before the first order rather than after.
  4. TemplateThe number pattern, ORD-NNNNNN for instance. Characters outside the tokens are literal.
  5. TokensClick to insert: the counter (3–6 digits), month, year, storefront shortcut, name and domain.
  6. PrefixUsed only when the template carries no prefix of its own.
  7. Counter startAdded to the counter. This is how you continue numbering from a previous system.
  8. Reset at year endThe counter returns to zero. Without a year in the template, that means the same number twice.
